  • Description: Serial #W29401, .455 Webley Auto, 5” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has mild freckling along the entire length. This is one 500 British service pistols shipped on June 26, 1916, and has 92-95% of the original bright blue finish remaining with some mild silvering at the muzzle, as well as thin silvering along the high edges, and scattered minor surface scratches on both the slide and frame (most noticeably on the metal surrounding the slide latch notch). There are some further small surface scratches and minor finish loss along the edges of the top radius as well as some mild freckling on the flat mainspring housing. The pistol is still equipped with a .455 chambered barrel (the chamber is notched for the semi-rimmed head of the .455 Auto cartridge), but the barrel breech has been polished bright; a common feature on Canadian-used 1911s, and this pistol was purchased in Canada. British military inspection markings are present on both the frame and slide, while a very small and unobtrusive import marking is present on the lip of the magazine well. The checkered double-diamond Colt grips (15 rows of checkering) are in fine condition with only some minor surface blemishes and light wear, mostly around the butt, and mild flattening of the points. A single, original two-tone, lanyard loop-equipped, .455 marked magazine is included. These are desirable pistols, and extremely difficult to find in the USA still in their original .455 Webley Auto chambering. This example is in excellent condition, and would make a splendid addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
