  • Description: Serial #175920, .31 Caliber, 5” octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This revolver was made in 1860 and has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, arbor, wedge, loading lever, trigger guard, and backstrap. The barrel and cylinder have retained about 70-75% of the original bright blue finish with the only real loss occurring on the left side of the barrel where the metal has flaked to a mottled plum-brown. The cylinder has some further mild flaking on the crisp and complete stagecoach scene with some further minor flaking around the almost pristine nipples. The frame and lever retain 95-97% of the original color case-hardening and the gripframe retains a commensurate amount of the original bright silver. The one-piece walnut grip retains most of the original varnish with a few small handling marks and blemishes, mostly along the heel of the butt on the left side. The lock-up is solid and tight with a fully functional mechanism, and most of the safety pins still proud on the rear face of the cylinder. Additionally, the revolver has a modern brass collection inventory tag, and is housed in original red baize-lined Colt case along with original double cavity Colt .31 caliber mold, original Eagle pistol flask with patent top, original nitre-blued nipple wrench, case key, and an empty Colt .31 caliber cartridge block with lacquered label. This is truly nice, Civil War era revolver that rates fine-excellent overall, and is a wonderful, complete example of an original Colt '49 Pocket. Antique
