- Description: The hames was the part of the harness used on a draft horse going around the horse's lower neck. It was worn over a padded collar and connected to the body harness and designed to help relieve the pull from the traces. This hames has brass finials and brass plated iron trim. As shown in the photos, the plating has peeled off in places. A couple of pieces of the leather straps are present in relic condition. This item shows evidence of heavy use and storage in a barn.
