Springfield Allin Conversion Trapdoor Rifle Model 1866 2nd Model

  • Price: $1,995.00
  • Maker: Spfld
  • Model: Trapdoor
  • Caliber: .50-70

  • Description: NSN, .50 CF, 36 5/8” barrel with a very good, bright bore that has some dark areas of pitting about midway down the bore. This is a handsome gun that retains traces of the original blue finish on protected areas of the breechblock assembly, while the 1862 dated lockplate has 85-90% of the original color case-hardening remaining with traces of some mild freckling along the edges of the plate and hammer. The barrel has a fairly bright gray patina that blends smoothly into a freckled plum-brown color on the balance; heaviest towards the breech. The walnut stock is in fine-near excellent condition with a re-applied oil finish over unsanded wood that has left the cartouches crisp and clear, as well as the woodgrain open and pronounced. The rifle comes with a slightly short period ramrod, and is mechanically excellent. This is a fine-near excellent example of a desirable 2nd Model Allin Conversion overall. Antique
