  • Description: This is a seldom seen early two piece box of Winchester .30 W.C.F. Smokeless 170 Gr. Metal patched. This two piece orange labeled box is a scarce (V4/R3) 1906 made version that was the first version having the red “W” end label as referenced on p175 of the Giles & Shuey book. The box contains 19 original rounds that have “W” primers and “W.R.A. Co. 30 W.C.F.” head stamps. Interestingly most of the brass have split cases where the bullet was seated and one round had the powder removed. The cartridges do not appear to be reloaded and the bullets are the correct metal patched soft point so it’s not clear why they split. The two piece carton is in fair condition with label graphics and wood cut that have faded and lost some of the image. The box has split edges on the top and the bottom seam has partially let go.
