Sword dimensions are a 25" blade 1 1/8" wide X 9/32 thick at the ricasso. The blade etching reads " 1st Compy Volunteer Artillery". The left ricasso reads "Della Torra & Co Conduit St. London." The number 74 broad arrow punched into the side of the guard finial. The guard is a two branch steel with opening for a sword knot. The pommel is of steel and the grip of fish skin with wire winding. The fish skin wrap has worn through to the wood in 4 places on the left side. The steel scabbard is marked with a matching "74 broad arrow" at the throat. The frog stud is now missing. overall condition is good, blade very good. Note these swords were probably originally issued in Britain. A large number have been found in Nova Scotia over the years which seems to indicate that these swords were reissued to the Nova Scotia Militia Artillery units. A nice British military sword.
