This type 2 rifle musket has the correct 1864 date on the lock and barrel breech and the single leaf rear sight. Another feature is the solid, spring retained barrel bands. 40 1/8" barrel with a bright bore showing strong rifling and some scattered pitting. This was the last U.S. martial regulation arm of muzzle loading design. No cartouche is visible on the stock. This ramrod has the tulip head design. The metal is cleaned to bright with light pinprick pitting. The walnut stock grades very good. Antique
