This type 99 short rifle was built in series 33 at the Toyo Kogyo, Hiroshima prefecture arsenal and has a matching bolt number. The barrel measures 26" and has a bright, excellent bore. Other particulars are an inverted V front sight with no side guards, a blued 4 7/8" long cleaning rod,a 2 screw front barrel band, a slotted rear barrel band, a rear sight graduated to 1500 meters with no provision for the airplane wings, The mum is ground and no type 99 marking was ever stamped which is correct for some rifles in this series, a plum shaped bolt handle, 2 piece buttstock with steel cupped buttplate, a dust cover, a wolded safety with notch, and a 2 screw rear sling swivel. The metal shows and old refinish with the dust cover retaining the original blue. The stock has been cleaned but retains some of the original finish in the finger grooves.
