A very rare pair of Carl Zeiss 8 X 30 Dienstglass binoculars. These are a pair of civilian glasses as built for and shipped for a Japanese officer or military use. Probably built pre war in the 1930's. Dr. Stephen Roban in his book, "Military Binoculars" rates the same civilian glass (Brazilian Army contract) as rarely encountered, the 2nd highest rating. He does not show any Japanese pieces other than to note that in the 1930's, these pieces were probably shipped to other countries. Bright crisp optics with range scale. This very rare pair is marked with the Japanese star and fitted with Japanese leather lens covers marked in Japanese on the reverse with a serial #3521. The Zeiss SN is 2887216. A very rare Japanese issued and used binoculars in excellent condition. Comes in an original Carl Zeiss commercial leather case with the Co. name and logo on the front face and name Bloch Opticien-Strasbourg. A very rare pair of Japanese used binoculars in outstanding condition.
