This rifle features a 33 3/16" octagon barrel of .42 caliber, measuring 15/16" across the flats. Sights are a nickel silver front blade with a fixed blade V notch rear. The 1/2 stock has nice curly figure for its full length with a pewter nose cap and pointed escutcheons for the pin fastener. Other decorations are a fancy nickel silver back plate, an oval at the wrist with one end cut off and 2 pointed fancy inlays, one on each side at back of the stock with a right hand shooter's cheekrest. Other items are 3 brass rod pipes, a fancy brass triggerplate with a brass toe plate (now broken) and a nickel silver buttplate. Several repairs have been done to the stock which still shows a chip at the toe. The lock is a back action model with set triggers which must be set to cock the hammer. No maker's name is in evidence. Overall antique good condition with strong rifling in the bright bore. A piece that could be improved with some TLC. An attractive decorator. Antique
