This uncommon item is a non cartridge marking device for the 1905 Springfield. designed by General George Wingate to reproduce a shooter's aiming error. Adopted by the US and other countries. See full description of the device in the "Springfield 1903 Rifles" by Brophy at pages 410-412 . This piece consists of the box, long rod dummy cartridge, 2 books of targets and the disk on staff. A piece in the as found, uncleaned condition.
