Named ship's powder horn to a Soloman E. Evans. This piece is 15 1/2" across the flat and 3 1/2" at the butt. The piece is "Folk Art" carved with the above name, 2 trees and 3 sailing ships. The center vessel bears a flag which is a British vessel by the flag and may be the Orhian. The butt plug has great ship's carving on the butt face and around the edge. The plug is fastened by what appears to be iron brads. The original stopper is square carved. A great original horn from the late 1890s to the turn of the century. Complete and sound with the exception of a few cracks at the spout which can be easily glued with epoxy if so desired.
