This pistol has some unique features the serial No. is a 881307 and appears to be a production overrun of the FBI order. The Smith made barrel measures 5 1/16" long and is threaded for a silencer and has a thread protector. A Dummy Silencer is included. All of the prouction extras were sold to Valley Gun Distributors, Inc. 18526 Parthenia St., Northridge, Cal 91324 which is substantiated by a Smith & Wesson letter dated April 4, 1985. The letter states in part , "in regards to the above lot of specially made 459 pistols, we can inform that these units are unique in that this exact version has not been previously manufactured". They were produced with special features required by Specific Government Agencies. This version of the M.459 including the Special Finish and Grips, has never been produced or offered to any commercial and or law enforcement distributors prior to this distribution.
