Adams Mk. III Model 1872 Revolver w/ South African Registration Number
- Price: $2,495.00
- Maker: Adams
- Model: Mk. III
- Caliber: .476
- Description: Serial #8353, .476 CF, 6" octagonal barrel with a fair bore that has dark freckling and areas of pitting along its length. This revolver has an overall mottled gray-black patina with areas of mild pinprick pitting on some areas. Traces of the original blue can still be seen on the front portion of the frame, as well as on the ejector rod swing-arm. The Adams commercial markings are crisp and clear on the right side, while the left side has crisp military acceptance markings: "(Broad Arrow) / WD / III"; and a June, 1875 date stamp on the lower edge of the frame. A deeply struck South African registration number is present on the underside of the barrel: "Z1665"; and a numeral "(2 or 7) 50" is present in white paint on the trigger guard bow. The checkered walnut grip is in very good condition with light-moderate flattening of the points, and a legible "(Crown) / E / 3" stamp in the wood near the top on the left side. The mechanism is fully functional, and the revolver rates about very good condition overall. This is a great looking example of a military-marked Adams revolver, and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique.
