British 3rd Pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife by Wilkinson
- Maker: British
- Model: Knife
- Description: This is a well-made knife that measures 11 7/16" overall with a 6 1/2" double-edged blade that retains the factory edges and 90-95% of the original dark blued finish, with the balance having some mild freckling, and some very faint gray fading along the edges. The oval metal guard is stamped "ENGLAND" on the underside, the cast alloy grip retains 60-70% of the original matte black finish, and there is a crisp "1" mold stamp at the pommel. The ferrule and pommel have the partial grooves indicative of some of Wilkinson's wartime output. The presence of the "ENGLAND" stamp, and lack of British inspection proofs, means this was one of 167,000 such knives shipped to the USA as partial payment for Lend-Lease during the war. The knife is housed in its original sew-in brown leather sheath with a loose but intact elastic keeper. The leather body is heavily scuffed, and the elastic has faded to pink over time. Nevertheless, this is a handsome original F-S stiletto, and rates fine-excellent condition overall.
