British Pattern 1888 Mk. I 2nd Type Bayonet With Late Scabbard

- Description: This Lee-Metford bayonet measures 16 1/2" overall, with an 11 7/8" straight,, double-edged blade having numerous markings on either side of the ricasso, including: "X" bend test stamp, "(crown) / VR", 4/90, 04, and 07 date stamps, and "(Broad Arrow) / WD" proof. The blade has an overall mottled gray-brown patina, heaviest along the raised central spine on either side. The wooden grips have minor handling marks, and there is a clear issue stamp on the pommel: "C.K.M. / 103". The 1936 dated scabbard has an integral frog/belt loop, and has gray-brown freckling on both the throat and chape. Additionally, there are light scuffs and minor blemishes on the leather body. This is a handsome, 1896 dated Patt. 1888 bayonet, and rates fine condition overall.
