British Pattern 1897 Infantry Officers Sword by Wilkinson
- Maker: Wilkinson
- Model: 1897 Sword
- Description: Serial #99629. This is a late 20th century, "ER / II" cyphered sword that measures 38 3/4" overall, with a 32 1/2" straight blade having half-length fullers and etched panels. The blade retains most of the original bright factory polish, but does have some scattered spots of freckling starting to appear along its length. The etched panels have a foliate motif with "ER / II" cyphers, and blank name escutcheons, while the ricasso obverse has the six-pointed proof star, and the Wilkinson Sword trademark and royal warrant on the reverse. The hilt has the pierced, nickel plated guard with shagreen grip and intact wire wrap. The leather-clad scabbard is in fine shape with only some mild scuffs and some crazing on the stud tab. This is a handsome British military sword, still regulation service equipment today, and is in fine condition.
