British SMLE No. 1 Mk. III* Rifle by BSA

  • Price: $695.00
  • Maker: British
  • Model: SMLE
  • Caliber: .303

  • Description: Serial #U44716, .303 British, 25” barrel with a very good bore that has some light freckling within the grooves. This is a 1908 dated, import marked rifle that has an FTR arsenal rebuild stamp on the receiver ring. The metal retains about 80-85% of a dark gray-brown, WW2 phosphate finish that has faded to bright gray at the muzzle, as well as along the high edges and projections. The matching numbered bolt has silvered on the handle, and along the bearing surfaces. The wooden stock and handguards have been arsenal refinished and have numerous small handling marks and minor surface blemishes, as well as a some brass brad repairs on the right side of the stock just ahead of the wrist socket. The buttstock has similar marks and bruises while the brass buttplate has a polished, bright yellow patina and the stock compartment is empty. A large rack number is painted on the left side in white: “53”, and the rifle comes with both a single unnumbered magazine, and khaki canvas sling. This is a very good, arsenal rebuilt SMLE overall.
