British Unit Marked 1844 Pattern Yeomanry Carbine

  • Price: $2,795.00
  • Maker: British
  • Model: Carbine
  • Caliber: .67 Cal

  • Description: NSN, .67 Caliber, 20 barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling towards the muzzle. This is an 1844 dated, VR cyphered, Tower-made carbine that has an overall smooth, mottled gray-brown patina throughout with a few hints of mild pinprick pitting at the bolster, and two small impact marks on the sides of the muzzle. The markings are still crisp and clear, as are the engraved borders and the knurling on the hammer spur. The wedge-fastened, English walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes scattered throughout under an old, added varnish, and the brass furniture has developed a pleasant, yellow-ochre color with spots of darker patina scattered throughout. The sling bar and ring have a matching, darkly mottled patina while the nipple protector and chain are still in place. The mechanism is still tight and fully functional, and the carbine rates fine-near excellent condition overall. The buttplate tang is unit marked: ECYC TN T 8 (Earl of Chesters Yeomanry Cavalry, Tatton Troop #8). This is a fantastic Victorian cavalry carbine and would make a great addition to any collection of British military arms. Antique
