Excellent WW1 Colt .455 New Service Revolver 1914
- Maker: Colt
- Model: New Service
- Caliber: .455
- Description: Serial #71119, .455 Eley (Webley), 5 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This handsome, 1914-made revolver retains 92-95% of the original commercial polish blue finish that has silvered slightly at the muzzle and on the projecting edges with some mild fading along the gripstraps . The cylinder has a few small areas of minor silvering between the flutes. This gun was sorced in Canada and there is a small unobtrusive import stamp on the underside of the barrel. The hammer has factory bright metal along the sides and retains most of the original blue while the trigger has some mild fading along the inside of the curve. The checkered hard rubber grips are in excellent condition with some flattening of the points and a small, barely noticeable repaired chip at the heel of the left panel. The lock-up is tight and the action functions flawlessly. Revolvers such as these were very popular with CEF officers as private purchase sidearms (these were not property stamped) and this is an excellent example of a large frame New Service overall.
