Fine S&W No. 1, 2nd Issue Revolver

  • Maker: S&W
  • Model: No. 1
  • Caliber: .22

  • Description: Serial #18316, .22 RF, 3 3/16" octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling near the muzzle. This is a handsome little revolver that has retained 60-70% of the original bright blue along the barrel, with the balance aged to a mellow plum-brown patina. The cylinder retains about 40-50% of the original blue, with patches of surface pitting along the forward portion. The frame retains about 95-97% of the original silver plate finish with some areas of the underlying brass visible on the high and projecting edges. The silver has developed an overall pleasing blue-gray patina over time and the rosewood grips, numbered to the gun on the interior, are in very good shape, but do have numerous small impact marks on the butt. The barrel lock-up is tight with virtually no lateral play in the barrel, and the action functions flawlessly. The assembly numbers on the frame and cylinder match, however the barrel number is no longer legible. This is a fine example of a 2nd Issue No. 1 S&W, with lots of original finish remaining, and would make a nice addition to any collection. Antique
