German Small Caliber Schutzen Rifle by Anschutz

  • Price: $1,895.00
  • Maker: Anschutz
  • Model: Schutzen
  • Caliber: .22

  • Description: Serial #10590, .22 LR, 29” octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a pre-war Kleine Kaliber rifle that has retained 95-97% of the original blue on the retailer marked barrel (the firm of Heinrich Münch in Aachen). There are traces of freckling along the length of the barrel, and mild silvering along the edges of the barrel flats. The frame is marked with a small “JGA (in oval)” on the left front (J.G. Anschutz) and has an overall mottled gray patina with muted original color case-hardening remaining. A very small and unobtrusive import mark is present on the underside of the barrel just ahead of the forend tip. The forend is wedge-fastened and has numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes in the old varnish finish. The buttstock is typically complex with thumb-rest, cheek-piece, and long, hooked butt. The wood likewise has numerous minor blemishes and bruises marring the nice old varnish. The rifle is missing the front sight, but the rear peep sight with wide aperture disk is still present. According to the previous owner's notes (included with the rifle), it was purchased by him at the Nürnburg Arms Fair in 1992. It was subsequently shipped to the UK, then Canada, before arriving in the United States. This is a great little small caliber schutzen rifle, and is in fine condition overall. FFL or C&R
