Iver Johnson Hercules SxS Double Gun
- Price: $495.00
- Maker: Iver Johnson
- Model: Hercules
- Caliber: 12 ga.
- Description: Serial #23537, 12 Ga. (2 3/4"), 29 7/8" barrels with very good bores that exhibit some mild freckling ahead of the forcing cones (choked Imp. Mod. and Full). This is a nice looking gun that has retained 50-60% of the original blue on the barrels, with the balance smoothly turning to a dark plum-brown patina. The frame has about 20-30% of the original color case-hardening still visible, with the rest also turned to a smooth plum-brown. The lock-up is tight, with no wobble, or lateral play with the forend removed, and both the bead and mid-bead are later replacements. The checkered, schnabel forend, and pistol-grip buttstock have an added varnish over small handling marks and blemishes, as well as scattered bruises through the varnish on the buttstock. The LOP is 13 1/2" to an old added Blue Line recoil pad, and the drops are 1 5/8" and 2 1/4" respectively. This is an about good example of an underrated, well-made American double gun. FFL or C&R
