The throat of the cross guard nearest the handle has a small dime size area of surface pitting but is otherwise excellent. The 17 groove oak handle has a crisp US stamp at the top is excellent with a small impact mark on the top side of the handle but otherwise as issued with tiny chips of wood missing below the stamp. The original scabbard is excellent and has embossed US at the throat, and is fully intact with loop and ring showing some storage scratches and blemishes on the leather surface with intact stitching. An excellent example of this Indian Wars era tool that would be hard to improve upon.
