US Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle by Springfield Armory

  • Price: $2,495.00
  • Maker: Spfld
  • Model: Trapdoor
  • Caliber: .45-70

  • Description: Serial #422297, .45-70, 32 1/2 barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an 1888 dated rifle that has retained about 98-99% of the original blue on the barrel and receiver with some trace silvering at the muzzle and on the raised and exposed edges. The low-arch breechblock has nearly all of the original bright color case-hardening remaining (including the barrel tang) and even the loading trough appears unused. The ramrod, bands, breech latch, and Buffington rear sight likewise retain most of their original blue finish with only some negligible silvering along a few of the edges. The mechanism is tight and functions flawlessly. The walnut stock has a few very minor handling marks and bruises present in the original military oil finish with a crisp SWP/1888 cartouche on the left side of the wrist. This is a splendid example of a U.S. Trapdoor rifle and is in hard-to-find excellent condition. Antique
