Webley-Kaufmann 2nd Model Revolver in French-Fit Case

  • Maker: Webley
  • Model: Kaufmann
  • Caliber: .455

  • Description: Serial #958 (MK# 603), .455 Webley, 5 3/4" octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome revolver has retained 85-90% of the original nickel plated finish, with scattered spots of freckling throughout, and some dark brown pitted areas along the barrel. The hammer and trigger retain their original armory bright finish, and the barrel rib is marked, "P. WEBLEY & SON LONDON & BIRMINGHAM", the Webley "football" trademark is crisp and clear on the left side of the frame, and "MK (in triangle)" Kaufmann stamp is present on the right side. The checkered walnut grips are numbered to the gun on the interior, and have only light surface wear, some very mild flattening of the points, and are otherwise in excellent condition. Matching numbers (either the Webley, or Kaufmann numbers) are present throughout. The lock-up is still tight, without any lateral play, and the mechanism is fully functional. The revolver is housed in an unusual French-fit case with period ivory cleaning rod, turn-screw, and oil bottle. The velvet has faded to dark brown, but is still a deep maroon color inside the compartments. The lid has a partial wire inlay that has broken and started to peel away from its channel, and the outer wire inlay is missing completely. This is a highly desirable, and seldom seen 2nd Model Webley Improved Government (Kaufmann), in an unusual French casing, and is in fine-near excellent overall condition overall. Antique
