York House Marked Tranter Model 1879 Revolver
- Price: $1,595.00
- Maker: Tranter
- Model: 1879
- Caliber: .380
- Description: NSN, .380 CF, 4 7/8 barrel with a very good, lightly freckled bore. This is a well-proportioned revolver that has retained 85-90% of the original nickel finish with most of the loss occurring on the cylinder, and along the barrel. Some dark plum-brown freckling is present where the nickel has flaked in spots to the underlying metal. The barrel rib and topstrap are engraved in block letters: YORK HOUSE, REGENT STREET, LONDON; and the Tranter football trademark is present on the left side of the barrel. The one-piece walnut grip is in very good condition with only minor handling marks and blemishes, and some mild flattening of the points. The barrel lock-up is tight, and the action functions flawlessly. York House was the HQ for the Junior Army & Navy Store, a similarly named competitor to the much better known Army & Navy Cooperative Society Ltd., and guns with their address are seldom seen today.
